These records were created as a way of monitoring the deaths of prisoners in custody or while on parole. Each entry lists the name of the decedent, county, race, sex, cause of death, location at time of death, and date of death. Entries in the volume dated 1914 to 1951 also include prisoner's number and book and page number of prisoner's entry in the State Convict Record (1888-1952). Included in this series is information gathered by the Board of Inspectors of Convicts (1895-1919), Board of Control and Economy (1919-1923), Board of Convict Supervisors (1923), Board of Administration (1923-1939), and the Dept. of Corrections and Institutions (1939-1953).
